COVID-19 Risk Protocols for Boys and Girls Tennis

Updated: Mar 13, 2021

COVID-19 remains a risk in San Diego County, and we at Westview Tennis take the risk that it poses seriously.

Especially in times like these, sports are an important outlet for our students, and we prize the experience that we can build together. Our goal is to create a healthy, safe and rewarding game experience as possible.

To that end, we've developed a set of COVID-19 risk protocols, which we're sharing with you today. This guidance is intended for coaches visiting Westview as well as our players and their friends and family.

We ask that you read these protocols carefully, so that we can ensure the best possible experience for our coaches, administrators, players, and fans.

Last Update: 3/13/2021

Drop-off

Your team bus or vehicles should pull into the south entrance parking lot closest to the football stadium. It’s important that your entire party arrives together. Your party will remain outside the gate next to our parking lot until your entire party is present. Once everyone is there, our head coach or assistant will escort all players down to the tennis courts.

Check in

Each coach and player will need to have their temperatures taken in our practice and game play area prior to practices and matches. The visiting coach must log and temperature check all their players prior to entering the stadium gates. Westview's head coach will confirm that no athletes or coaches are experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms and that they have not been diagnosed with or been in close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

Masks

All athletes and coaches will wear masks at all times while on the Westview campus. Athletes who are playing matches will have the choice to wear their mask while in play.

Team Area

Once all players and coaches are present and have been cleared with temperature checks, the Westview's head coach or assistant will escort all players and coaches down to the tennis courts. The visiting team will use the left set of benches located in front of the tennis courts for their team area.

Bathrooms and Locker Rooms

Bathrooms will be available and are located at the stadium entry gate. No locker rooms will be available.

Fans and parents

Only immediate household members are allowed to come to competitions and practices. Two gates will remain open for spectators: the visitor entrance to the stadium, and the pedestrian gate on the back ramp closest to the baseball field. Spectators must have their masks on, and must stay socially distant with people outside of their households. Additionally, spectators are not allowed on the courts. Because we will not be symptom checking household members who are spectating, they may not at any time be within 6 feet of our athletes.

Departure from courts after match

No one will be released from the area until the match is complete.

Athletic trainer

We will have the trainer on duty at the game in the athletic training room.

Water

We will be unable to provide water for your team, so please plan on bringing your own.
